About this event
As paediatric therapists we understand and acknowledge the importance of “On-Time” postural support and mobility interventions to provide optimal gross motor development and skill acquisition. These “little bodies” are designed to be upright with weight bearing and movement for these benefits in musculoskeletal, sensory, cognitive and social development.
Assisted weight bearing in gait is therefore a therapeutic intervention with a strong clinical basis for those clients unable to weight bear or step independently. And making the best decisions in choosing the most appropriate equipment means considering a child’s physical and social developmental, postural support, and mobility needs.
Our overall aim being functional skill improvement – gait with a purpose.
Come join us for a workshop where we will:
Review the “why” of supported weight bearing and mobility including the most recent underpinning evidence base
Explore key motor learning concepts
Identify key strategies for functional skill improvement
Review common client presentations and gait training setups.
Delve into the progression of supports and adjustments throughout the life of the use of the device.
Enhance your confidence in scripting clinically appropriate solutions
Provide hands-on experience with assistive technology equipment for supported gait.
And finally, we’ll take a peek at the emerging place of robotics in supported gait.
One step, two step…. Let’s get these little bodies moving!
