About this event
It can feel scary to commit to a night like this. That’s okay. EVRY1 is new. It asks you to feel a little more than usual. But it’s not heavy in the way you might think.
I’ve held 35 shows like this in Brisbane between 2015 and 2021.
Almost everyone who came said the same thing afterward: They didn’t quite know what to expect, but they left feeling lighter, happier, and more connected than they arrived.
So if you’re on the fence, this isn’t about being moved in some big, overwhelming way. We're not asking anything from you; just to be in the room.
EVRY1 is a different kind of night. Real people stand up and tell true stories from their own lives. There is no performance polish and nothing to take away or apply later.
This is not a talk.
It is not a panel.
It is not something you half watch.
It only works when you are in the room.
The night
This event takes place over one evening in Brisbane.
A small group of people will share personal stories. They are told live, in their own words, as they are.
There is no Q&A.
There is no discussion panel.
There is no pressure to respond in any particular way.
Between stories there is space. Quiet. Time to sit with what you have heard.
This is not designed to be impressive. It is designed to be present.
Storytellers
The following people are confirmed to share stories on the night:
Mel Greig
Broadcaster whose life changed overnight following a widely publicised media event (Royal Prank Call)
Marlena Katene
Journalist and author living with cerebral palsy. Marlena will share her story live using her AAC device.
Justin Geange
Suicide prevention advocate and former Buck the Bronco. (Not the horse, the mascot lol)
Dani Stevens
Sharing her experience living with epilepsy and the role of her seizure alert dogs.
Cara Szellemes
Author and cult survivor.
Jenni Cargill-Strong
A lived-experience storyteller whose work explores resilience, mental health and identity through deeply personal insight and honesty.
Sara Saldez
Sara survived a car crash that had her rethink her habits and change her life for the better.
What this is and what it is not
There are no sales pitches.
There are no lessons or techniques.
Nothing is being sold except the experience itself.
It is a chance to sit in a room and listen to real stories as they are told live.
